Last year, the big new band on the local scene
was Infernal Method. This year it's The Amenta.
This Sydney five piece play scorching brutal
black metal, with quite a bit of a death and
industrial influence as well.

The first two tracks ('Mictlan' and 'Ennea') demonstrate pure excellence. The songs are extremely well written, and the production is just excellent. The riffs are awesome, the drumming is evil sounding, the keyboards add a gloomy presense and the vocals are skull crushing.

Track three 'Nekvia' is an industrial influenced soundscape, but while technically its not really a song, its still very interesting and unique. For just a three-track C.D., this is very well produced and presented.

One of the many features that I found impressive
was the enchanced multimedia C.D.-Rom
component. Pop the CD into your CD-Rom drive
and you have basically a website on the CD.
It features the bands biography, pictures,
wallpapers, lyrics, details on the songs, concepts
and lots more. Its quite a good feature, as it
allows you to hear the tracks, and then find out
all you wanted to know about them and the band.
This is something you would more likely see on a
major release, but to see it used by a new band is
very impressive and also a very smart promotional
move.

Metal fans must check this band out. If you
don't, you are truly missing out on something
spectacular.

This is an excellent release and it I can't wait to
see what they will do next.
