The Amenta have unleashed their debut, Occasus on an unsuspecting world and it’s quite a release.

Bringing together every nuance of Extreme Metal, The Amenta has created a grandiose epic that belies their years as a band. Essentially based in New South Wales and with band members from various death/black metal bands around the country, Occasus has that sense of something burrowing underneath, something a little different from the norm.

Opener, Erebus is monumental in its vision - thunderous and explosive it makes way for the mighty Mictlan, which is a powerful audio experience in itself. Gelit and Ennea maintain the intensity, while Senium and the title track add a touch of diversity, with layered Industrial sound scapes and white noise.

In closing, Occasus defines Extreme Metal as it successfully pushes the envelope over its 41 minute plus running time in many ways.

Confronting, yet very musical, The Amenta is a force to be reckoned with and a band that has set a benchmark that others will soon need to follow.
